Replacing “West Bank” with “Judea & Samaria” - State & Federal Legislation
For decades, backers of Israeli settlement of and permanent control/sovereignty over the West Bank have insisted that the West Bank be referred to using the biblical terms “Judea & Samaria” -- language they believe bolsters Israeli/Jewish claims to the land, while delegitimizing claims of Palestinians.
This table tracks legislative initiatives in US states and in Congress, starting in 2025, to impose/enforce by law the replacement of the term “West Bank” with the biblical terms "Judea and Samaria."
